Refund policy

Everything we sell is vintage, antique or restored. Pieces of this kind carry the marks of their age. Scratches, dents, surface marks, patina, timber movement and evidence of earlier repair are inherent characteristics of vintage furniture.

They are to be expected on every item we sell, and they are not defects.

Because every piece is individual, we do not itemise every mark. If the precise condition of a piece matters to you, ask us before you buy. We will send further photographs, provide additional measurements, or arrange for you to inspect the piece in person at our Mascot HQ, at no cost and without obligation.

Purchasing without making those enquiries means accepting the piece with the ordinary age-related wear described above.

2. Change of mind
We do not accept returns for change of mind.

Because our stock is one-of-a-kind, fragile and individually restored, we ask that you satisfy yourself about a piece before purchasing. We are happy to answer questions, send further photographs, or arrange an inspection at no cost.

3. Faulty, damaged or not as described — 14 days
If an item is faulty, damaged on arrival, or materially different from its listing, contact us at info@esho.com.au within 14 days of delivery or collection.

So we can assess the claim, please provide:

- Your order number and proof of purchase.
- Photographs of the item and of the fault, taken before the item is moved or repositioned.
- A description of when and how the fault was found.
- Where a carrier was involved, the delivery paperwork or condition note.

Please do not attempt any repair, cleaning or alteration before contacting us. Doing so may make the fault impossible to assess.

We may inspect the item ourselves, or arrange inspection by our nominated restorer, before determining a remedy.

4. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

For second-hand and antique goods, acceptable quality is assessed having regard to the age, price, and condition described in the listing.

We keep a dated photographic record of every piece taken immediately before dispatch or collection. This record forms part of our assessment of any claim.

5. What is not a fault
The following are not defects, and are not covered:

- Age-related wear, patina, scratches, dents, surface marks and previous repairs, as described in section 1.
- Damage occurring after delivery or collection, including damage caused during moving, repositioning, assembly or installation.
- Damage occurring in transit where you arranged the carrier. Risk passes to you at collection, and transit claims should be made with your carrier.
- Normal timber movement, or fading caused by direct sunlight or heating.

This section describes the condition of the goods we supply. It does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

6. Delivery, collection and risk
If you want your item protected during transport, we encourage you to arrange a courier who can insure the transportation process. Our pieces are vintage and often fragile, and a carrier you engage directly can offer you transit cover on terms you choose.

- Collection from our Mascot HQ. Free. Risk passes to you when the item leaves our premises.
- Delivery by a carrier you engage. We can recommend couriers we work with regularly, or work alongside a carrier you nominate. In either case you contract and pay the carrier directly, and may arrange transit insurance with them. The item is in your carrier's care from the moment of collection, and any transit damage is a claim against your carrier.

We will prepare any item for transport on request.

7. Refunds
Approved refunds are issued to your original payment method within 5 business days of assessment being completed.
