Chiswell Heritage Edition Teak Sideboard

The Chiswell Heritage Edition sideboard, made in Australia in the 1970s.

The Heritage was Chiswell's better line, and the construction shows it — four doors with drawers behind, giving separated storage rather than one long cavity. Cutlery, linen and valuables each get their own place, which is why these still work as dining room furniture rather than merely looking the part.

Golden teak throughout, with the grain left open rather than sealed under a heavy finish.

At 158cm it fills a dining room wall properly without dominating a smaller room.
