Bentwood and rattan is one of the oldest pairings in furniture and one of the most durable — steam-shaped timber for the frame, woven cane for the seat, both of which flex rather than crack. It is the reason chairs built this way are still in daily use a century after the technique was perfected.

The open weave keeps the chair visually light, so it works in a small room, at a desk, or as an occasional seat that does not dominate.
