Chiswell Teak Bar & Storage Sideboard

A Chiswell bar and storage sideboard in teak, from the 1970s.

At 103cm high and only 37cm deep, this sits between a sideboard and a highboard — tall enough to serve from standing, shallow enough for a wall that could not take a full-depth cabinet.

The mirror has developed a patina rather than staying bright, which is the mark of an original rather than a replaced panel. It throws light back through whatever sits in front of it.

Elegant tapered timber legs and the restrained silhouette Chiswell was known for.
