Chiswell Teak Extension Dining Table — 1970s

A Chiswell extension dining table with the original maker's stamp underneath.

The stamp is worth having. Chiswell tables are widely copied and frequently misattributed, and a surviving mark is what separates a documented piece from a lookalike.

Extension tables of this period were built to solve a real problem — a table that seats four every day and eight at Christmas without a second piece of furniture. This one runs 137cm closed to 181.5cm open.

Very good condition, refinished in Danish oil.
