This piece is a classic example of Mid-Century Modern (MCM) design, a Danish Modern teak High board or sideboard. These were incredibly popular in the 1950s and 60s for their perfect blend of functionality and minimalist aesthetic.
Made from teak a wood prized by Scandinavian designers for its durability, its rich golden-brown colour, and beautiful grain patterns. It offers split-level storage, usually featuring a mix of sliding doors, drawers, and sometimes a hidden "bar" compartment behind one of the upper panels.
The tapered "cigar" legs and the subtly curved side panels (the "fins") that extend upward. These organic shapes are hallmarks of designers like Gunni Omann or Johannes Andersen.
The integrated sculptures pools on the wooden handles (both the circular thumb-pulls and the organic drawer grips) are a sign of high-quality craftsmanship.
This piece is highly sought after today because they provide massive amounts of storage while maintaining a "light" visual footprint thanks to the elevated legs.
Authentic vintage Danish teak furniture has held its value remarkably well and make a great investment, this piece would normally sell for $4000 and will increase in value overtime.
