Mid Century Don Rex teak armchair retro vintage Custom Order

This armchair is a classic piece of Mid-Century Modern furniture by the Australian manufacturer Don Rex. Based in Brisbane, Don Rex was renowned during the 1950s and 60s for high-quality craftsmanship and sleek, sculptural designs that rivaled European imports.

The chair features a solid teak timber frame characterised by distinctive, "paddle" or "cigar" shaped arms. The open-frame design gives it a light, airy aesthetic despite its sturdy construction.

It utilises a low-profile, reclining stance with tapered "atomic" legs that were a hallmark of the era.

The smooth joinery and the ergonomic curve of the backrest. Don Rex pieces are highly collectible today because of their durability and timeless "organic modern" look.
