The high back is the point. At 96cm it supports the head properly, which is why these were made as reading and television chairs rather than occasional seating — you can sit in one for an evening. The teak frame keeps the profile light despite the height.

Dark blue felt wool is a considered choice: matte where vinyl of the era was glossy, and warmer against teak than any leather.
